Product description
The FNIRSI FNB-C2 is an advanced USB-C power tester and fast-charging protocol detector designed for measuring high-power systems. It features full support for the USB PD 3.1 (EPR) standard up to 240 W and is equipped with a precise 20-bit ADC converter for laboratory-grade measurement accuracy.
Product specifications: - E-Marker chip reading: can identify chips inside USB-C cables, thereby verifying their actual capacity (e.g. whether the cable truly supports 100 W / 240 W or high-speed data transfer)
- Protocol detection and triggering: automatically recognises and can enforce a wide range of standards such as USB PD 3.1, UFCS, Qualcomm QC 2.0/3.0/4/5, Huawei FCP/SCP, Oppo VOOC and Vivo VFCP
- Data logging: enables the capacity (Ah) and energy (Wh) to be stored in several memory groups and allows real-time monitoring of voltage ripple
- PC connectivity: via a dedicated HID port, the tester can be connected to a computer for detailed graph export and firmware updates Description of the main screens (Interface):
By turning the dial gradually on the home screen, you can cycle through the 5 main windows: - Main measurement screen: displays voltage (V), current (A) and power (W) with a maximum resolution of 7 digits. It also shows the direction of current and the tester’s temperature - Statistics window: displays total capacity (Ah), energy (Wh) and measurement time. By pressing and holding the dial, you can select and clear a specific memory group (Group 1–9)
- Signal line measurements: displays the voltage on the D+/D- and CC1/CC2 lines. Based on these values, the tester automatically estimates the currently active fast-charging protocol
- Graphical interface: displays a real-time graph of voltage and current. A short press of the dial changes the sampling rate (time axis)
- Cable resistance calculation: used to measure the cable’s internal resistance using the voltage drop method (requires a constant load)
Basic controls and navigation: - Rotating the dial: switches between main screens or navigates through the menu. - A short press of the dial: confirms a selection / enters a sub-menu / resets the selected value.
- Long press of the dial: access the main system settings (System Settings). - Back button: go back one step or exit the trigger function. Technical specifications:
Measurement values are displayed with high resolution on a 7-digit display - voltage (VBUS): 4 to 50 V (resolution 0.000001 V, accuracy ±0.2 ‰ + 2 digits)
- current: 0 to 6.5 A (resolution 0.000001 A, accuracy ±0.5 ‰ + 2 digits) - power: max. 240 W (resolution 0.000001 W)
- Signal lines: D+/D- and CC1/CC2 voltage measurement (0 to 3.3 V)
- display: 1.54" IPS TFT LCD (240×240 px) with a gravity sensor for automatic screen rotation.
Basic controls and navigation Rotating the scroll wheel: Switch between main screens or navigate through the menu. Short press of the scroll wheel: Confirm a selection / enter a submenu / reset the selected value.
Long press of the wheel: Enter the main system settings (System Settings). Back button: Go back one step or exit the trigger function. Guide to advanced functions:
1. Testing and detecting protocols (FastCharge Protocol) Turn the dial to the signal line measurement screen and press it. Select ‘Auto Detection’. The tester will begin to test various protocols in sequence (PD, QC, SCP, etc.).
IMPORTANT WARNING: During this test, the tester may vary the voltage up to 20V/28V. Never connect a mobile phone or any other end device to the output! Doing so may damage them.
2. Manual protocol activation (Trigger Mode) In the fast-charging menu, select a specific protocol (e.g. PD Trigger or QC3.0 Trigger). Use the dial to manually increase the voltage (e.g. to set 9V, 12V, 20V) for testing power adaptors and power banks. To safely exit this mode, press the Back button
3. Reading E-Marker chips from cables Connect the power adaptor to the tester’s input (USB-C IN). Connect the other end of the cable to the dedicated port on the tester or enter the Cable Info -> E-Marker Reader menu. The tester will read the cable specifications from the chip and display the maximum supported current (e.g. 5A), power (100W / 240W) and data transfer rate (USB 2.0 / USB 3.2).
Connecting to a PC and updating the firmware On the top of the tester, there is a separate port labelled PC / HID. Connect this port to a computer using a micro-USB or USB-C cable (do not use the tester’s main power ports). Download the official software from the FNIRSI website. Within the programme, you will see detailed graphs with a high sampling rate and the option to export data to CSV.
