Product description
Flammable gas detector – Model MTG-3000HR (relay)
The MTG-3000HR detector is designed to monitor rooms for the presence of natural gas (LNG), methane, propane, butane or a propane-butane mixture (LPG) in residential premises.
It is one of the few detectors of flammable and explosive gases in its category to hold certificates confirming compliance with the requirements of both Czech and European technical standards ČSN EN50194-1: 2009 and ČSN EN50194-2: 2006, issued by the independent accredited laboratory TÜV SUD Product Service GmbH in Germany.
Thanks to this confirmation of compliance, the detector can be installed not only in residential buildings, but also in caravans, motorhomes, campervans, boats and yachts.
The MTG-3000HR detector is designed to continuously monitor for the presence of flammable gases in the monitored area. Detection is provided by a highly sensitive catalytic combustion sensor, which requires no further calibration.
Should a gas leak be detected, visual and audible alarms are activated and the output relay is triggered, which initiates the next step in accordance with the connected peripheral device. The alarm is deactivated once the gas concentration falls below the threshold value that triggered the alarm. The device features an automatic diagnostic system that monitors the sensor and internal circuits. If the detector’s diagnostics detect any irregularities, an audible buzzer signal will sound and the yellow ‘ERROR’ LED indicator will flash.
The detector is powered by a safe 12V DC voltage via a 230V / 50Hz mains power supply, which is included in the pack.
Areas of use: Residential premises with kitchens fitted with gas hobs, domestic boiler rooms with appliances burning natural gas or propane-butane, or rooms housing gas equipment such as: gas cylinders, tanks, gas pipework, garages for gas-powered cars, and school chemistry and physics workshops and laboratories. Where should the detector be installed?
We install detectors for flammable and explosive gases in rooms where gas leaks may occur (gas boiler rooms, kitchens, rooms with water heaters, central heating boilers, direct-heating heaters, fan heaters, etc.). The key criterion for correct detector placement is the type of gas being detected – in other words, whether we are detecting a light gas (which rises towards the ceiling) or a heavy gas (which sinks towards the floor). We select the installation location based on this criterion. Gas detectors are always mounted on the wall; depending on the type of gas being detected, they should be positioned either near the ceiling (approx. 15–30 cm) or above the floor (approx. 15–30 cm), at a distance of at least 1.2 m from any fuel-burning appliance to minimise false alarms, which may occur during a brief gas leak – for example, when igniting a gas boiler or cooker – and at a distance of approx. 60 cm from corners, i.e. where two walls meet.
Properties of gases and their density relative to air Propane-butane (LPG): Heavier than air; sinks towards the floor. Natural gas (LNG, CNG): Lighter than air; rises towards the ceiling.
Petroleum products: Heavier than air; they sink towards the floor. Ethylene: Lighter than air; it rises towards the ceiling. What is natural gas?
Natural gas is supplied to your home via pipes. Unless you live in the countryside, you are likely to be using natural gas. It is the predominant energy source for heating homes. Natural gas is a fossil fuel consisting almost entirely of methane. Methane is much lighter than air and rises upwards when it leaks. If you use natural gas, we recommend installing this detection device about 30 cm from the ceiling to ensure that any gas leak is detected as quickly as possible.
What is propane? Propane is most commonly supplied to households in liquid form and is stored near the house in propane tanks. Propane is used in homes in rural areas where there is no natural gas supply. As propane is the most commonly used LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), the terms ‘propane’ and ‘LPG’ are often used interchangeably. Unlike natural gas, propane is much heavier than air and tends to pool near the ground. We therefore recommend installing this detection device close to the floor to ensure that any gas leak is detected as quickly as possible. It is therefore important to protect your family and home with combustible gas detectors. Advantages of the device:
A cost-effective device for detecting flammable gases. High-sensitivity catalytic sensor. Wide range of detected gases: natural gas (LNG), methane, propane, butane and propane-butane mixtures (LPG)
Relay output for controlling connected peripherals Audible alarm – an 85 dB siren alerts you to a detected hazard.
Reliability and high sensor stability. Automatic diagnostic system with automatic sensor failure indication. Information and warning LED indicators. Power supply with a safe voltage of 12V DC.
Certification confirming compliance with standards ČSN EN50194-1: 2009 and ČSN EN50194-2: 2006 Easy installation and operation. Loud alarm signal.
Wall mounting. Very low running costs. Very compact dimensions and low weight.
Modern and aesthetically pleasing design. Technical specifications: - Gases detected: natural gas (LNG), methane, propane, butane, propane-butane mixtures (LPG)
- Sensor type: catalytic – hot-wire sensor - Alarm thresholds: 12% LEL (lower explosive limit) Propane 0.20% Butane 0.17%
Methane 0.53% - Alarm signalling: visual – flashing red ‘ALARM’ LED indicator audible – 85 dB siren audible at a distance of up to 3 m
- Relay output max 1A / 120V AC; 2A / 4V DC - Normal operation: the green ‘POWER’ LED is lit
- Fault indication: a yellow LED flashes and an audible buzzer sounds - Maximum power consumption: 1W in standby mode; 1.5W in alarm mode
- Power cable length: 2.2 m - Operating mode: continuous - Operating temperature: -10°C to +40°C - Storage temperature: -20°C to +60°C
- Operating relative humidity: max. 95% RH - Power supply: DC 12V ± 5% - Mains power supply: AC 230V/50Hz, 9W DC12V 300mA (included)
- Protection rating: IP 20 - Service life: min. 5 years - Warranty: 36 months - External dimensions / weight: 75 x 75 x 35 mm / 66 g
- Housing material: ABS plastic - Certificates and approvals: ČSN-EN50194-1:2009, ČSN-EN50194-2:2006, CE
