Description
Robust and fast MPPT controller for demanding conditions with panel voltage up to 150 V, charging current 60 A. Battery 12/24/48V, PV max 860/1720/3440Wp. Built-in Bluetooth and plug-in display connector.
The SmartSolar MPPT controller, in contrast to the regular Victron Energy BlueSolar series controller, offers the following four new functions:
1. Bluetooth:
- you can display and configure the SmartSolar MPPT controller via a smartphone or tablet. You can monitor current statuses and historical data and perform parameter settings using the VictronConnect mobile app. You can download the app for iOS and Android here. You can also download the VictronConnect application for free from Google Play or the App Store. This application is not yet available for Windows mobile devices.
2. SmartSolar plug-in display (not included in delivery):
- It is possible to purchase an additional SmartSolar plug-in display as an accessory. The display is inserted into the connector on the front of the controller and allows you to visualize all operating conditions and perform parameter settings.
3. Input for remote on/off:
- an external device can simply turn off/on the controller
4. Built-in programmable relay:
- can also be programmed using a mobile phone, for example as an alarm relay.
- Victron Energy's new professional controllers offer ultra-fast MPPT tracking compared to competing manufacturers. Especially when the sky is cloudy with a continuous change in light intensity, thanks to this controller, the solar gains are 30% higher compared to classic PWM controllers or 10% higher compared to slow MPPT controllers. Especially with partial shading, two or more points of maximum power can be given. Common MPPT controllers try to maintain the power at the local power point, but this may not correspond to the optimal (maximum) power point. Excellent efficiency up to 98%, without unnecessary energy losses with quiet passive cooling without a fan.
- The regulator is suitable for charging both lead-acid and LiFePo4 batteries.
- The installation of the regulator is relatively simple - we set the type of battery on the regulator using a rotary switch, see the manual. Next, you connect the regulator to the batteries and it reads the battery voltage and adjusts itself automatically. Next, you connect solar panels to the controller - for these powerful models, we usually use 60-cell panels with a power of 250-270Wp. In that case, we connect a maximum of three panels in series so that the maximum permitted VOC panel voltage of 150V is not exceeded.
- Complete and detailed settings of the individual charging modes of the controller can be performed via mobile phone, plug-in display, or programmed via PC using the VE.direct to USB cable.
- The maximum permitted panel power for 12 V systems is 860Wp, for 24 V systems 1720Wp and for 48V systems 3440Wp. If these values are exceeded, the controller will automatically reduce the incoming power from the panels to acceptable values, so the excess power will not damage the controller. The regulator can only be damaged if the maximum VOC voltage of the panels is not observed at 150V.
The maximum input short-circuit current of the PV panels must not exceed 50A, otherwise permanent damage may occur.
Adaptive three-stage charging: 1. fast charging (Bulk), 2. absorption (Absorption) and 3. maintenance (Float). Select from eight pre-programmed absorption and hold voltage values using a rotary switch.
The length of absorption is determined by the voltage value before the start of a new charging cycle (in the morning). This has a positive impact on the full charge of the battery and its service life.
Activation of the regulator when the voltage from the panels is higher than the voltage on the battery. The voltage from the panels must exceed the battery voltage by 5V for the regulator to start working and charging the battery. The regulator charges until the voltage from the panels is 1 V higher than the battery voltage.
Advanced electronic protection
Protection against overheating, protection against short circuit and reverse polarity of PV panels.
