It can therefore utilize energy from solar panels much better than a PWM controller, which regulates charging only by pulse limiting the direct connection between the solar panel and the battery, where the pulse width is proportional to the state of the battery being charged. In other words, the MPPT controller can generate the ideal voltage and current for charging the battery from a higher voltage and lower current source. For example, from 30V and 5A, it generates approx. 15V and 10A.
