In an aqueous environment, these ions are capable of ‘absorbing’ other ions, a property we utilise in the filtration process. Zeolite is, in fact, a kind of natural disinfectant; it is non-toxic, non-allergenic and effectively regulates nutrient management in the soil.\n\nUses:\nAdditive for growing media: zeolite makes the substrate well-aerated and suitable for the healthy growth of the plant root system; it binds and subsequently gradually releases all fertilisers used; it improves water management; and its structure provides an ideal environment for the proliferation of beneficial soil bacteria. Furthermore, zeolite is suitable for improving acidic, heavy clayey or sandy soils, where it acts as a soil conditioner.\u003cbr\/\u003eDecorative material: zeolite is a suitable decorative material for covering the soil surface of plants grown in containers. It prevents excessive water evaporation, binds nutrients and absorbs harmful substances. It prevents the growth of mould. It absorbs odours from the surrounding environment.\nPlanting and sowing: using zeolite as a drainage layer at the bottom of a sowing or growing container ensures plants remain healthy and develop a strong root system.\u003cbr\/\u003eFilter medium for aquariums, ponds and fish tanks: zeolite helps to create a suitable environment for fish and ornamental aquatic plants, reduces the growth of algae and significantly lowers the level of harmful ammonia in the water.
