Hlavním přínosem těchto přídavných světel je úspora energie, neboť při jejich používání nesvítí obrysová, potkávací ani koncová světla vozidla. Úsporu přinese také prodloužení životnosti žárovek či výbojek, kterou pocítí především řidiči vozidel s xenonovými světlomety, jejichž výbojky mají sice delší životnost než běžné žárovky, ale jejich výměna je výrazně nákladnější.
